The only thing I need now in order to have the PERFECT #Linux battlestation is a decent GPU.Holy shit, what I have missed #KDE Plasma. The cozy eyecandy just makes me happy.:opensuse: Tumbleweed makes me feel at home again, it is almost giving me the same feeling that I had as a 9 year old kid, installing Suse.Never thought that I would feel this happy about a computer ever again

@selea Linux battlestation indeed. I never want another laptop, desktop, facetop, or any top. I want a battlestation.

@selea I live-tested both Suse and Fedora last week (KDE ofc) and I have to say Fedora was better with dual-screen setup. Still leaning towards Suse for install. I just hope that this M$-type of updating from Neon isn't something that will become standard.

@jonaslarsson Yeah the "you have to reboot in order to install updates" thing... It plagues Fedora and opensuse aswell - IF you are doing it from the UI.Doing it from the CLI frees you from that stupidity

@seleaIt might be obvious but go for AMD. Nvidia is still a proprietary mess and I've attempted to use Intel Arc, but it's a hot mess.

@selea Ok, good to know! I'm not very familiar with distros outside Deb-family.Thing with KDENeon is that it (apparently ) uses pkcon primarily instead of apt.Full upgrade with apt borked my install, now I need to remove plasma-desktop-data to install plasma-desktop-data, which conflicts with plasma-desktop-data because it is installed. No blame on Neon it was a hours old release-upgrade.Anyway...who needs a full DE? I still have yakuake on that box, if I'd ever want to dig into it.

@selea @jonaslarsson There is a setting in KDE System Settings → Software Update that lets you select to apply updates immediately or after a restart.

@selea i spot that you have also changed to @opensuse instead of Fedora :Pthe openSUSE Conference 2024: https://events.opensuse.org/conferences/oSC24 is happening in Nuremberg in Germany last week of this month 26-29th of June (going there myself in person to help out for the second year in a row) also the more enterprise SUSECon: https://www.suse.com/susecon/ is the week before 17-19th of June but that costs 995€ to attend they have a free day the 19th of June however: https://events.opensuse.org/conferences/CSBerlin but unure if its being streamed online or not just asked but have not gotten an answer yet and i will still be home in Sweden for that week also the non rolling version openSUSE Leap 15.6 is released in 1-2 weeks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DadfzqDL2EE i mostly run @archlinux and @EndeavourOS btw (but still helping out with Swedish translations and testing for SUSE/openSUSEs new installation software Agama and will help out a a voluenteer at the openSUSE Conference for the second year in a row as it was SUSE and openSUSE that started my Linux journey several years ago now
