Can anyone in the whole world submit?...to have a "European dimension"... but you are from elsewhere? Don't despair: there are other ways too... A significant contribution towards the vision of the Next Generation Internet initiative also qualifies. What is good for the whole open internet also benefits Europe, after all. Or put differently: we are open to talent from far and wide to deliver the ambitions of the NGI. ...Read the FAQ for the full answer:https://nlnet.nl/mobifree/faq/

@aral @hanscees Thanks for sharing this information. Very useful. Sorry to read this: "I’m also done wasting time writing grant proposals to organisations that clearly do not care about supporting the work we do."But reading the mail you received does not give me the impression that they "do not care about supporting the work we do", I read it as this decision was given by the "limited means".Anyway, I will read more about https://small-tech.org/

@janvlug @hanscees Yeah, you know what, maybe I will keep applying and if we keep getting rejected, we’ll have a lovely art piece of rejections to use at conference talks and when asked about how our work for the common good is funded.

@aral @hanscees Yes keep trying! Especially as you have all proposal texts now probably ready.

@aral @janvlug perhaps with @bert_hubert maling people aware that we need european tech and also small tech times will change. Generally speaking from my experience in it people that write good proposals are not always the ones you should fund.

@janvlug @hanscees Not really, there’s been a huge amount of progress in two years. But yes, why not? If we keep getting rejected only one of us looks bad given what we’re already delivering and how close we are to wider availability. It will embarrassing to some folks if the Small Web launches as a free and open alternative to the Big Web, made in the EU with zero EU public funding when organisations exist that say they fund exactly what it delivers. So, yeah, let’s see.
