Just watched CBC news. They're saying it's the 1st measles death in over 30 years in Ontario. It's outrageous that parents aren't vaccinating their children.

@marathon It's their choice. Maybe they will act differently the next time? Regardless of how tragic, we must remember that freedom comes first and presonal responsibility.

@h4890 Unfortuantely I can't agree with you on this - putting one's neighbours at risk is unacceptable. Herd immunity is very important. I do beleive in an amount of Freedom, but it's not open ended.

@marathon I disagree. My neighbours safety is their responsibility and my safety is mine. If the vaccine works, they should be content with taking it and shut up. If other peoples safety is used to justify gross invasion in the lives of others, we have retrogressed to a slave society with a slave class and a master class. Imagine how silly if we ordered the world according to people with cat allergies or peanut allergies and force people to kill their cats. That's basically what coronawas.

@h4890 This is entirely different from allergies. Measles kills and had been eradicated before folks like you, decided that it was a freedom issue. It isn't. Diseases that can remove the human species from existence and that have vaccines that work, should be illegal to refuse. Your freedom doesn't trump that of my right to exist and that of the rest of the herd.

@marathon Of course not. And the people who refuse will, if the desease is so horrible refuse themselves out of existence, so you have nothing to worry about. Only if you don't believe the vaccines work would you be worried, but they do, don't they? And if they don't work, the risk they entail is immoral and unnecessary.

My freedom to exists, trumps every other right and is the foundation of modern, free societies. What you are talking about is called herd mentality and a majority oppressing a minority and per your logic, nazis were in the right to kill jews, since the few jews had no rights and the herd must have its way. @marathon you still seem to live on the authoritarian level. Forcibly injecting people with experimental vaccines because you have an irrational fear of desease is revolting to me, and that attitude is also the basis of genocide, nazi germany, the soviet union and countless other examples. Only strong libertarian and individual rights will bring us peace and prosperity.
