@mike @molly0xfff a decentralized Patreon is essential. an open protocol/API that would let us transfer money bank to bank almost as easily as sending an email.the paywall issue is a real problem but could be overcome if we could connect our media/reading apps to this. set any amount that gets automatically distributed on a percentage basis by time spent.if enough people do this with enough money, we eventually convince more and more creators to release their work directly and open access.

Many new Podcasting 2.0 apps already use it to reward creators. There is a new economic model that goes hand in hand called Value 4 Value. - https://value4value.info/

@wjmaggos @mike @molly0xfff TrueFans is heading down this road. So you set a monthly fiat amount (even auto-top up) and we will deal with the micropayment distribution. No crypto wallet needed by the user. We would create a virtual wallet for you and make the payments on your behalf. We just enabled user son Truefans to buy audiobooks or albums in a FIAT currency and then we convert that to SATs and pay the creator and any splits in their wallet. The user buying the book doesn't care.

@mike @molly0xfff Is there some way to stream the audio only on PeerTube? Clicking Download -> Advanced -> "Audio stream" gives an "Access Denied" error.I had to search for an another podcast source to get audio only.

@Hyolobrika @wjmaggos advertising in podcasting sucks and so do subscriptions. A direct way for fans to reward content creators is needed. Fiat currency payment gateways won't work. So new digital micropayments are one solution being put forward.

@samsethi @Hyolobrika the magic of decentralized social media is content coming in from anywhere. but today, you might hit a paywall or have to wade through a ton of ads. so people often stay in information silos. we can fix that.

@wjmaggosSounds like you might be looking for a combination of OpenCollective and SATs. Always gotta diversify income sources.Also, I do believe SATs can be distributed after a group receives them. Or, a media, project, or application can set it up in such a fashion. But, I haven't looked too deeply into it yet. @samsethi @mike @molly0xfff

@GothFvckI'm looking for an open protocol for fiat transfer. to be able to set a monthly pot in my banking app and have media apps report to it how much time i spent consuming whose content. then pay them.
