(Meaning you have to apply normalization, and potentially re-encode to the correct charset before hashing, or else you get false negatives.) He sperged out not wanting to accept it, then kept sperging even harder when he noticed I was right.Previously (like years ago) I had lightly poked fun at him for still using bzip2, and he had sperged out equally hard, so I already knew he's a bit special. Back then he might have had a point, maybe (I'm no expert on compression algos) or maybe not, but this time he was clearly wrong, which confirms that he's the kind of person who loves to post in an overly arrogant and verbose style, rudely mocking other people, to make himself look smarter than he is.That really grinds my gears because young impressionable programmers will read his rants and think it's wisdom, and that it's cool to be arrogant and mock other people for supposedly being wrong about something. Unsurprisingly he also seems to be surrounded with racist and sexist men. It's machismo all the way down.The Free Software community has guys like this at one extreme, and zealous "woke" types at the other extreme, and it feels like there's barely anyone at a sensible middle-ground, which is really sad.

He jumps into threads once in a while to pick a fight, like the first time I talked to him, he wanted to yell at me about using bzip2 for my backups instead of xz. (That sure didn't age well.)
