So with all that’s going on in the world, politically, socially, etc. I’ve done my best to quietly stay on top of things. People ask me what I think about politics in the US, I might voice an opinion. But when people ask me what I think about what’s going on in the Middle East, I have to give pause.

What is happening in Israel and Gaza is horrible. There is no winner. On October 7th of last year (2023) 1200 Israelis were slaughtered and even more were kidnapped by Hamas. Israel had to respond.Did Israel respond correctly? No. Did Israel possibly go over board? Yes.

But we can’t forget that it was the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.Never again means something.Though, Netanyahu needs to go. His response was way over kill. And in a densely populated area like Gaza you don’t go in with a sledgehammer unless you want to obliterate everything.Which, I believe he did and still wants to do.What should of happened is that that IDF goes into Gaza strategically and takes out Hamas.

It might be bloodier from a soldier standpoint, but less civilians would have been killed.I know I’m playing armchair QB here and I know I don’t have all the facts at hand. But what is happening over there needs to end.But the blood isn’t all on Israel’s hands. Egypt could have opened its borders to the Palestinian civilians to escape. But they didn’t.Let’s not forget that folks.

There are bigger political forces at work here, like Iran. The October 7th attacks happened right as Israel was in talks with Saudi Arabia to normalize relations. Iran and Saudi Arabia are enemies. So could that have been an impetus for the attack as well? Also there was a clear breakdown in security. How the hell could an attack like this happen in a security state like Israel without a break down in communication in the defenses.

I’ve hesitated to write anything for a while now. But I feel Iike I need to speak my mind.I’m not a Zionist. I do think Israel has the right to exist. But I also think the Palestinians should have their own land too. It’s really a lose-lose situation right now.But chanting anti-Semitic slogans and being anti-Jew isn’t helping anything folks.
