After considering using rclone onedrive (plenty storage provided by employer) or google drive for offsite backups, I instead decided to pay a bit more and use rsync.net instead. Gotta love their selling point for the discount rate for restic users:"There is NO restic specific technical support or integration engineering. You're here because you're an expert."(I'm not but thank you for stroking my ego!)#backup #restic https://www.rsync.net/products/restic.html

Main reasons for opting against using rclone and the cheaper hyperscaler backends:- I want rclone/restic only to be able to access the backups, not the rest of the data. This requires setting up separate clientid and jumping through all the hoops to set up API keys etc- Support the small guys ( https://console.dev/interviews/rsync-john-kozubik) . We can only blame ourselves getting our services enshittified by growth hackers if we don't support the SMEs around us.
