My 3rd cellphone in a row, the USB port is clogged again and I can barely plug anything in it. My laptop charger is the only thing that holds (barely). All mechanical cleaning is useless (I've tried compressed air, interdental brushes of all kinds, small needles, etc.).The first phone had a micro USB, and I replaced the clogged plug with a new one (until it happened again) which did not cost much but took days.I assumed this would not happen with #USBC, but it still does. What do I do?

@hroncok you could try charging wirelessly but that's just admitting defeat...

@liskin @hroncok is it though, i still remember reading some transit company technician praising wireless interfaces for data transfer (like software updates) in vehicles with long life spans (we're talking a bus that is meant to be frequently serviced for the next 20 years), maybe you need to keep a stash of ancient obsolete transmitters somewhere, but the fact they don't wear out mechanically makes them absolutely superior

@pony @hroncok in the case of wireless charging it is because you waste more energy, everything gets hotter (maybe lower battery lifespan) and also maybe you need to take the phone out of its protective case for it to charge at all, so you'll break the case every couple months or so

@liskin @hroncok i am not sure this is necessarily a great problem, it's just few watts here and there (scaled to billion devices, yes, but still)
