Are there any lakes, ponds, or rivers nearby? With a rudimentary filtration system combined with boiling you can make most water safe for consumption. I bought a bunch of life straws and in line filters a while back, but with some buckets with the correct media you can filter out the majority of contaminants

Just barely carburizing flower head on the torch. Don't overheat. Feed that solder rod in until you have the right puddle. Kind of fun, really.

That being said I am certain you could make silver chains a man could not just rip apart. You might have lunker links in that chain, but there is some diameter where a man or even a werewolf-depending on what type, of course- could not break it. I have a friend who does these wild interlocked ring bracelets out of silver rod. They're woven in a helix and you end up with a heavy tube of a chain. Pretty cool stuff. Like pic, but the pattern is larger and more complex. Not rreally man shackle material, but if you used larger rods and thus a much larger chain it probably would be. Especially if you welded the joints.
