For those of you curious this is what the #pinephonepro camera looks like with my autofocus #libcamera and that new driver. This was late at night with only my room light on so it is still pretty noisy but it looks decent enough.

@Luigi311 Looking forward to try this with apps doing QR code scanning (like e.g. Warp) - they desperately need better autofocus :)

@rmader just as a test I opened up warp on my ppp with the autofocus and I was able to warp over the shrek movie! I finished up pretty much all the changes for the imx258 patches so I’m just waiting for either feedback or approval so I think I can finally move back to this. Most of this came from someone else and I just swapped over from hill climb to golden search so I need to go through the feedback the original developer got on the libcamera maillist and see what needs to be done

@rmader I will be traveling for a bit so I won’t be able to work on it right away but if you are curious to try it you can find it here based on libcamera 0.2 https://github.com/luigi311/libcamera/tree/golden_0.2 there’s also a golden search branch that was on the latest commit when I did it but had breaking changes so I couldn’t test it at the time due to pipewire support. Autofocus branch is the original hill climbing algorithm I think but should be just 1 commit different.

Looks like we just need some good lens shading correction which libcamera already support for the rkisp and the noise issue might just be exposure is too low.

@Luigi311 Awesome! Just to be sure I understand things correctly: that the algorithm can also be used with the softwareISP / is not ISP/IPA specific, right? So if we implement the controls on the Pipewire side (or temporarily enable it by default in libcamera in some downstream patch) it should also work for the Librem/PP/...?
