:blobcatgiggle: always fun to see my own posts back in an article I'm reading (i removed the link since it would go against the article, so copy and paste)news.itsfoss.com/mastodon-link-problem

@stux I’ve been thinking about that. It should be trivial for a CMS like #Wordpress to generate a link preview jpeg, to save the site from getting pointlessly hammered.

@Jain I think it's harder for an fedi server :blobcatgiggle: When i share posts with a direct link to another fedi service it seems to work fine, but often with platforms like WordPress and such with no cacheLet me share a post! That should also generate some server load 💪

@stux Honestly, if your website is so fragile (dynamic, uncached) that it can't handle a few hundred request in a short time, you should redesign it. Or use a more static way of serving it.

@FediThing @Jain @FediTips What hosting do you use? And specific WordPress? I think it's a caching thingFor example if you put CF in between there is no issue since CF will catch most of the load

@stux still, shoving a few hundred KB of tracking, bloated Javascript down the throat of each visitor is a choice

@FediThing Any cache plugins like W3 for example? I think it can also do a decent job with the right setup@Jain @FediTips
