iPads are almost as expensive as MacBooks :flan_laugh: But sure! An iPad really needs an M4 chip for all those uh.. "heavy apps"? :apple_inc: Apple seems a little lost

In my life I have had 2 iPads and i sold them both again within a year :nkoFacepalm2: I have learned now, never again 😇 it's just kinda useless when you have a Mac

@stux They really do still seem like overgrown iPhones to me. I can't imagine what anyone would do with an M4 chip. Maybe really heavy gaming or video editing? It's certainly a really weird choice for the debut of their new chip.

@stux the best use of the ipads I owned where when the kids where small: perfect sesamstraat watching machines. No need for an M4 chip there.

@stux That's true. I know there are standalone drawing tablets and I don't really know how they compare. Maybe if that's what you want, it's a good bargain.The mini is nice as a media device. The battery is huge and if your hands are big you can hold it like a phone. But I don't need a Mac chip on my iPad.

@stux since ultra wide-screen monitors I make do with the screen of a phone or with 49 or 57 inch ultra wide. Nothing in between seems nice enough.

@stux I left the Apple ecosystem in 2020, never regretted it. My Android devices are Samsung now, and I don't have a laptop because my tablet does everything I need. I get better everything now. So suck it, Apple.

@stux i never needed or found a way why i need an tablet 🤔 but i use an android phone.. and android TV ...on computer its windows 11 😉

@stux I've gotten a lot of value from mine but only because I'm a heavy Notability user - eyeing a pencil-compatible piece of music notation software these days as well 👀 Of course I could use any other tablet for that kind of thing as well but if there was a way for those fancy new expensive iPads to do coding-related macOS stuff I'd happily pay up and ditch my computer :P

@stux i have a low-end samsung tablet from 2016 and it's still good enough for most things anyone would ever use a tablet for (except gaming and video editing), I can draw, watch youtube and some TV channels at 1080p60, while using an outdated 1.6 GHz Exynos SoC with a 600MHz GPU and 2 GB RAM. I can even do some light multitasking between Word and chromium browsers (firefox seems to consume more ram)If 8 years old hardware is almost fully usable, anything better than M1 on iPads is unnecessary
