@Radical_EgoCom If you so hog-tie the capitalists, that they can do little harm, like the Norwegians have done, then sure, it's tolerable. But that still doesn't mean that it's a net positive for humanity.

@Radical_EgoCom I would say then all the good that capitalism could have done in this circumstance has been done, and now to deal with inequality we dismantle said system. When inequality continues to grow that's how you know that the peak of quality of life changes has passed.

@Radical_EgoCom so droll. Always the same stupid argument. Folks think that innovation only happens under capitalism. Wrong. Smart folks innovate. Capitalists steal their ideas, then give us a shabby second rate likeness of the great idea, because profit. Then they stifle any future competition. I’d argue that without capitalism, we could have much cooler stuff, designed to be repaired + reused almost forever. Also cleaner water, a healthy planet, more biodiversity, less stress

@Radical_EgoCom I agree with some aspects of what is said, but I think a powerful response is this: all historical evidence shows that capitalism naturally evolves in the opposite direction, towards less containment and more corruption of democratic controls by financial powers. It's out of hands, so making it evolve in the direction we want is hopeless

@Radical_EgoCom It is the evolution of capitalism that put us in the climate mess we’re in. Taken to its logical conclusion, capitalism will result in the consumption of all natural resources, all wealth captured by an elite few, and only enough commoners to attend to the needs and whims of the elites. Everyone else will perish. Feudalism all over again but in a dystopian hellscape. Allowing capitalism to continue on that path is suicide.

@Radical_EgoCom Capitalism is not a fair economic system and not everyone gets a good quality of life. Where you are in capitalism is basically luck with some skill sprinkled in. This post makes many errors.1. Assumes everyone has access to their basic needs2. Assumes rich people are benevolent dictators 3. Assumes that reform can fix itAll of this can be easily debunked by asking the average poor person how they're doing currently. If this person is good faith respond with these points.

@Radical_EgoCom Ahem:We don't all have big TVs, phones and a decent life expectancy, famously many of us do not. How much of capitalism's bad effects do you have to curtail before it works, and will that point be before or after you've accidentally reinvented socialism?Fighting the system is fighting its worst traits. Maybe we don't need a revolution; But this, this thing we have right here? It is unsustainable. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, idiots praise it online.

@Radical_EgoCom Acknowledges that inequality is growing under capitalism but is cool with it because we get iPhones? What a shitty, selfish, petite bourgeois way of looking at the world. The accumulation of as much wealth as possible is the goal of the capitalist - it will always lead to inequality. Capitalism is also a crisis prone system, when the wealthy few do something that ruins the lives of millions of working people. Hard to argue with someone who clearly doesn’t care about people.
