@aral At some point, I can’t decide exactly if the people coming back again and again in “your backyard” (😅) with the definition-of-a-genocide angle comment a) will ever get they are missing the point, or b) know it is not the point, but who wants to waste a free opportunity to gaslight?, or c) think we never read the extensive definition of what a genocide precisely is (or Special Raporteur Albanese’s report) and chose that precise word with a d6 dice one lazy morning, or d) all of the above 🤷🏻♂️

I have a friend, a true friend it has been awful, who keeps insisting the word "genocide" is inappropriate.I think he can't deal with the pain so he descends into pedantry. Same with "Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East" he/they repeat it like a manta, not an argument.I miss him, I fear I am going to lose him entirely, as if he was a Trumper.

@aral Your argument is false, in logic. If there is no justification for supporting genocide - & there ISN'T - those who DO support it must still say why they do so. They must justify themselves (or try to do so) - not the genocide.

@aral I think the deeper understanding of the communication gulf is important.This pattern pops up continuously when there is communication between left and right.I'm not saying you need to communicate to have a conviction. BUT, when you do want to communicate it is good to know that there is basically a language barrier. Maybe more like a rhetoric barrier. One example is when you don't stand for anything "gotchas" are meaningless.

@rmblaber1956 It’s logically sound; I am saying it is unnecessary for the latter because they cannot justify it no matter what they say or do and therefore it’s futile to even attempt to. In other words, I’m merely stating that x = y and z = !y. Where x is opposing genocide, y is justifiability, and z is supporting genocide.

@rato @aral ..i get that...but you can be against everything israel is doing without thinking it's a genocide , you lose all those people, personally i am moving towards calling it genocide...and i am not anti-israel, at least i used not be.... 😞
