I really wanted to play Helldivers 2, but after getting the news that you need a PSN account for that my opinion on the game quickly changed. It’s not that I think it’s bad that you need an account for an online game, but having my Steam auth token in another PSN leak is something I want to spare myself from.

@koyu you always needed one. it was written on the sales page. they just weren't enforcing it because they were bad at programming and prioritize shoveling war bonds over fixing bugs lmao

@koyu not sure how much leaking a steam token on that side matters though. valve does everything through oauth/openid tokens so they're pretty well atomized as to exactly which publisher is doing shit they shouldn't and its trivially revokable on valve's side.

@icedquinn even then I wouldn’t. I think Valve should also should make it mandatory for developers to have the "third party account" badge visible before the decision is being made.

@icedquinn it is revocable, but when do we see Valve actually do this?

@koyu not sure there's been a need to. of the steam progs i've used its mostly linked to paradox, epic, or now sony, and even then i think all that does is facilitate the handoff like its just using the steamid to log in to the other account behind the scenes.never heard of someones steam getting hacked through login federation.i do sometimes get ding dongs trying my account in brazil through the regular login though
