@stux That can go either way. We've got Slack at my current place, which is really useful for ad-hoc chats with people.My last place was a big multinational, and they tried bringing in a chat client. I don't know of anyone who actually used it. It seemed to be some kind of vanity thing for the top management to try to get people to use it. Maybe it was worth an end-of-year bonus to someone?

@stux I make a point to not have WhatsApp. I'm not even sure if I can even install it on my phone given that I don't have a Google or Apple account

@stux We use Teams on our work computers and work phones, and SMS for after hours / emergency stuff. It's a decent work life balance, and much better than my old job where I used one phone for everything.

With my previous job we also had a team that used WhatsApp as team chat and at some point I had setup a closed RocketChat server for that groupEveryone thought it was a great idea but ofc none joined :nkoFacepalm2: You know what.. neverrrr mindd :blobcatgiggle: I'll rather host for people on the web who do appreciate it

@stux same happened with my team when we had to move to microsoft teams.Everyone hated teams and we setup a discord server for casual chat (non work related) .Everyone loved the idea, but nobody used the server :nkosigh:

@stux we use Teams on company hardwareThere is a WhatsApp group used for social events, eg we all did a fun run and it was to coordinate a meetup at the finish line etcI didn’t like it and resisted for years, but it was so hard to coordinate social activities otherwise so I relented but I remind staff not to use for company work. Best compromise I can make ☹️
