@malwaretech this is so wrong in so many ways. The US is a democracy, we don’t have the candidates we want (I would argue we rarely do) but one will preserve democracy the other will not. Not voting for Biden is in reality voting to undermine democracy, in the USA and abroad. It’s that simple in practical terms. And we rarely had a choice so clear to make, I am amazed this is so confusing to some!

@patrickco @malwaretech The United States of America is not a democracy, it's an oligarchy. The US operates under a system that prioritizes the interests of corporate elites and wealthy individuals, perpetuating inequality and undermining the true democratic participation of the populace. Instead of genuine democracy where decisions are made collectively and transparently, power is concentrated in the hands of a few, leaving most disenfranchised and unable to meaningfully shape their futures.

@Radical_EgoCom @patrickco @malwaretech sadly the UK has similar problems to the US.Although we have a greater choice of candidates, in reality most of us live in safe seats where our votes do not count.Even if we're lucky enough to vote in a marginal area, we have to accept the entire manifesto and anything the party does for the next four years. #presumedconsent Oligarchs get to exert influence on a daily basis.

@Radical_EgoCom @malwaretech I don’t disagree with some of your points, but it doesn’t mean the US is not a democracy. Nothing in real life is perfect and with all its warts I still prefer the current system to most others political systems in existence. The question should be: what do we do to move in the right direction? NOT voting and letting Trump take power would just further push the system in the directions you are complaining about - how does that help?

@patrickco @malwaretech All of the points I made does mean that America is not a democracy. Oligarchy ≠ Democracy. Oligarchy = a form of government where power is concentrated in the hands of a wealthy, ruling elite. Democracy = a system where power is vested in the hands of the people, either directly or through elected representatives. If America is an oligarchy then it isn't a democracy. (P.S., I'm not necessarily against voting, only against labeling America as a democracy)

@Radical_EgoCom @patrickco @malwaretech America is in a weird position because you have the various protection coded into law but the lawmakers are really just listening to the wealthiest few even as people elected them to work for them. They'l say anything to get your vote.
