       I think that's wrong on two counts: 1) there is no "will" in that prediction, we're already living it.  When was that written, the 80's? Because then it would have been a prediction.  2) there probably WILL be a shock when the dollar collapses because the rest of the world abandons it as the reserve currency.  Then overnight gas will be $20 a gallon and you'll see what inflation really looks like.  There will be civil unrest, martial law, and a long period of Iraqi style insurgency that wears down the feds until they collapse or capitulate.

       Even Zimbabwe didn't happen overnight. South Africa is slowly transforming into separate ethnostates in a long series of violent/collapse events. It could happen here... is, has been.
