If we rebrand Anarcho-Communism as The Freedom Economy, plaster flags and eagles all over theory and praxis, we would light a brush fire in American society. #IWW

@WNC_Wobbly I do agree that the term "Anarcho-Communism" has difficulty in convincing people to even consider the ideology, which is why I switched from that term to "Libertarian Communism".

@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social @WNC_Wobbly@mastodon.social Ngl both bad.1. Anarchism is the system we currently live in.2. Libertarians are anarchists in sheep skin.

@phil @WNC_Wobbly Your first point simply isn't true, and your second point technically is true since libertarian communists do believe in the abolition of the state and hierarchy, making them anarchists.

@phil @WNC_Wobbly I'm not going to be able to have a conversation with you if you're going to use such an incorrect definition of anarchy. Anarchism is the absence of hierarchy and coercion. Statism is the presence of hierarchy coercion.

@phil @WNC_Wobbly You haven't demonstrated how anarchy and the current system that we currently exist in are the same thing. All you've demonstrated is that you believe that Anarchy inevitably results in the creation of a state, which I heavily disagree with. Even if that were true, that isn't proof that we're living in anarchy, only that the state is a result of anarchy.

@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social @WNC_Wobbly@mastodon.social You can go and do anything, as can everyone else. Is that not anarchy?

@phil @WNC_Wobbly As I've already explained, no, that isn't Anarchy. Anarchy is the absence of hierarchy. I can theoretically go and do whatever I want right now, but hierarchical institutions are preventing me from actually doing those things.

@phil @WNC_Wobbly In relation to the working class movement, the state prevents workers from unionizing at the behest of capitalists when it inconveniences them, they terrorize, beat, and sometimes kills striking and protesting workers, if workers would ever actually try to take back the means of production into their own hands the state will be right there with their police officers to beat the workers back into submission, only to name a few.

@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social @WNC_Wobbly@mastodon.social Okay. I don't see the state doing that. I do see a lot of corrupt officials and cops, on the other hand. You're pointing your finger at the sky, when the culprits are readily obvious and visible. Put another way: the state is an idea, not a real thing you can see and touch. So the 'state' itself can't be the problem, since it doesn't exist. The problem is people. For instance, would you say that these cops and capitalists would behave differently if society was arranged along your ideals? I would personally expect them to act just like they do now, and strive for power, bullying who they can just to get ahead.

@phil @WNC_Wobbly The idea of the state is the reason why people are behind bars and why cops arrest people. When people say that they're against the state they usually mean that they're against the idea of the state and the people that represent that idea.

@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social @WNC_Wobbly@mastodon.social That's like saying "in my world, nobody will ever be selfish, and nobody will ever attack another person."We're mammals. We're basically chimps with a bit bigger brains. Is it a reasonable expectation that human nature will suddenly change like this?

@phil @WNC_Wobbly That's a missed my presentation of my position. I don't think that human nature will suddenly change just by giving the working class ownership of the means production. Doing so will only give the workers more power over their lives and make explanation impossible. People will still be greedy and selfish, but there will no longer be institutions that reward greedy and selfish people and give them power to mistreat others.

@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social @WNC_Wobbly@mastodon.social How about this: cops put people in jail because they get paid to do that, and get great benefits, and they get to power trip.I don't need big words to describe the reality of the situation, and these same people would easily side with whoever takes care of them and lets them get away with their whims. If not the cops, they'd join any other group of that character.

@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social @WNC_Wobbly@mastodon.social My point is that we're talking about bullies. I'm saying bullies will continue to be bullies regardless of how you arrange society. You're saying that changing society will somehow make bullies just... not exist.

@phil @WNC_Wobbly You know very well that that's not what I'm saying, and I've been extremely clear about what I have been saying and you've continually misrepresented and misconstrued my words. Bullies will still exist, but in our current society, all bullies are awarded and given immense power. In a Libertarian Communist society, these bullies would not have the power that they have now.

@johntinker @Radical_EgoCom Social media is a tool. If any relationship w/in the context of your intended use of that tool is interfering with your use of the tool then it's absolutely appropriate to prune that relationship. Unless it's part of how you intend to use social media you don't own anyone engagement of any kind in these environments.

@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social @WNC_Wobbly@mastodon.social Anarchy -> people get together -> the group sees they can have an advantage or benefit by acting badly toward other groups -> consequences. The existence of states is a natural result of anarchy, and simultaneously it doesn't prevent you from acting as you wish. You're still entirely free to undertake any efforts, actions or enterprises you wish, within the limits of your physical environment.Nitpicking about definitions isn't going to help you here, by the way - the issue isn't us all "agreeing" that we live in X or Y political system. The issue is that we're dumb monkeys and most of us are driven by selfish and short-term whims, rather than long-term satisfaction.

@blue_fenix@hachyderm.io @WNC_Wobbly@mastodon.social @Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social How do you think we got here? There were no states in the beginning, yet by the middle ages, virtually all larger societies on the globe had them. This is a really obvious pattern across history. Whether you look at Europe, the Americas, Asia or Africa, you will find the same exact pattern.People get together, and as the group grows and start controlling territory, get into scraps with other groups, states naturally emerge.Heck, we even have plenty of examples of small groups, tribes, that are structured around a single leader, chief, or shaman. Hierarchy emerges naturally between people. And, to be clear, I'm not gaslighting. What I'm saying is not at all controversial, and I'm genuinely baffled that you think it is.
