I've never once read a review of an album before deciding to buy it, I was willing to gamble $15 bucks on a CD only having one or who good songs. And now in the age of free music streaming I don't know why people need to seek affirmation from fags like Anthony Fantano.

@GoodBoyUV I mean theoretically they would stop you from wasting money back in the days of physical media, but I can listen to a million albums on Spotify for like $10 a month and the only risk I take is wasting a few minutes listening to a bad song, big fucking deal

@PraxisOfEvil @Wrest I pay for TIDAL for gf and pasture (2 more free slots) and it's been great. I use it every day. on desktop/laptop and phone. they provide FLAC and MQA tracks (and you can use easy-to-use third party apps to download anything on the platform) its really great

@graf @Wrest I've heard of TIDAL but never used it, do like the FLAC tracks though, have a lot of them in my music folder from back when I still downloaded songs. When my Spotify trial expires, I might give them a shot.

@PraxisOfEvil I buy original issue CDs of NSBM and RAC albums for the audio quality. Frequently, original issues are the only way to find properly mastered albums. Too many bands can't be bothered to correctly reissue their music which leads to lossy masters.

@TheEternalBungholio CDs...that takes me back, I found a 6 CD changer at goodwill and was actually able to hook it up to my old stereo, but that was years ago. I did see a record store near my place but I never went inside, they might have some CDs but I'd have to ask about the formats.

@TheEternalBungholio I remember buying Korn and Green Day CDs from my friends back in middle school, the inserts were awesome. I never owned many official albums before I started pirating and burning them onto CDs though. I still collect vinyl every once in a while and there's some cool art on those sleeves.

@PraxisOfEvil Because RAC albums are frequently illegal in most of the countries they were produced in, finding original copies always commands a high price. Since sellers don't always have PayPal or CashApp accounts, I've sent money through the mail.

You can find stuff like earshot but I haven't seen them personally. Lots of millenial oldtrooncore trash, like britney spears, limp bizkit, beiber, u2, countless gay niggers like frank ocean, so on. A lot of digging to find the few David Byrne CDs and Soundgarden CDs I have.
