So much fun can be had when people quit a project suddenly.Especially when you hear: "Well, that's okay, because *you* have been working on this project for months! Right? RIGHT?"Well, d*mb*ss let me just tell you this: 4 months ago there were 5 of us on this project, now, it's just ME.Don't expect me to do as much work as 5 people, by0tch. âšī¸

@ParadeGrotesque Ugh. I'm in a similar place. I tested negative for covid a week ago today. I went to work the next day because we needed to get things done.My team is expecting me to perform at pre-covid levels.It's not a fun time.

@RogueDharmaBum Fortunately, in my case, there was no COVID-19 involved. The guy just stood up and screamed: "F* this sh* I AM OUT!".But I feel your pain.

@ParadeGrotesque @starbreaker I'm going to guess either "you should have innovated more" or " there isn't any money in the budget to give you more than a 1% raise". Maybe with a little bit extra "well, maybe if you perform in the higher role for another year" for good measure.

@ParadeGrotesque Using the old man-month metaphor, all the women have quit (or have been laid off during the traditional tech industry January eye poke), and the baby is still due next month with just a male obstetric nurse and a cardboard box that has "artificial uterus" written on it in blue dry-erase marker.Any sane person would immediately see "this is not happening", but then there are the folks that are *super interested* in the cardboard box.

@RogueDharmaBum Hence the benefits of unions: my $MEGACORP announced that everyone is getting a 3.5% raise this year regardless of performance.I am aiming for at least a couple of percentage points above that. Or else.A nice little bonus package would also do the trick.At this stage, the project in question is one where I did ... I would say about 70% of the real work, and they cannot afford to lose me.As I mentioned this is going to be FUN.@starbreaker
