So, the water-management company refuses to share the keys to the Water-meter, so I can monitor the usage myself - they use GDPR as an excuse. And it did not take long until I realized that I have not given consent on sending the water-meter usage to a third party in another country.if they use GDPR against me, I will use it against them.

@selea the gdpr argument is almost always a hoax or a decision based on poor understanding of GDPR.

@selea As far as I know, water utilities could have purchased meters with closed software and may not have keys. They only have read-write software. Meter companies are not willing to give up their keys. The open protocol required by law often has only basic capabilities.

@szczezuja This is indeed the case. However, other water companies have given out the keys to whom who ask.And also, they blame it on GDPR, but they obviously dont follow GDPR when it is convenient

@selea It may depend on which company they bought the water meters from. That other manufacturer can give you the keys and then the Waterworks will give them too. I think it's not just the will of the people in the Waterworks.

@szczezuja It is a well known water meter, other have gotten the keys.It is just laziness. The water company do have the possibility to download the keys (.kam files) from the portal
