       @dever @eriner @SirRichard My friends and I who live in the same area are thinking about comm plans and I know at least 1-2 of them are interested in LoRa mesh radio. We would likely need 1-3 rptr type nodes and then 1-2 units each for 4-10 people.I want to start by building 3 nodes in a mesh and then test ranges, modes, etc. If it seems useful, we would require people to pay for their own hardware. (I'm not buying all of it)Any recommendations on types of hardware? I don't want to dead-end.

       @ralphw @dever @eriner i made a repeater out of a 10 watt usb solar panel, a plastic ammo can, a powerpack, and a 9db gain antenna.Range is a little over a mile.

       @ralphw @dever @eriner ps, i can't get anyone interested atound me either. Most preppers just want to buy food and ammo, and not do "the boring stuff". Philistines.

       @SirRichard sure, I would love that.That is exactly what we want to build, but I'm unsure the best transmitter to use.This seems to be the best I can find, but I may be missing something.https://www.lilygo.cc/products/t-beamsupreme-m?_pos=5&_sid=4ed1e381c&_ss=rOr https://www.lilygo.cc/products/t-deck?_pos=1&_sid=0ea373065&_ss=r

       @ralphw @eriner @SirRichard These are the ones I got, I'm a fan of 18650 powered stuff. A solar charger that can reach 5-7v @ 500ma via USB out can recharge them to work as remote meshtastic relays.I'd stick with the 915MHz band. 433MHz is really crowded with noise from other common devices.It's slightly cheaper to buy them off of Ali.https://a.aliexpress.com/_mr8RRfaSince phones are ubiquitous, I use that to interface instead of that dedicated keypad you posted. Seems it'd be fragile.

       @ralphw @eriner @SirRichard I suggest subbing to Andreas Spiess & looking at his catalog for meshtastic info, he's great.https://youtube.com/@AndreasSpiess

       @ralphw @dever @eriner @SirRichard https://www.lilygo.cc/products/t-echo these T-echo's are much better on power than the t-beams. They're just a bit more pricey. Internal battery gets me about 3 days of running off the charger. I've got around 10km LOS link from a mountain top near by with 89% link strength with a tbeam up the mountain and echo down. Both with standard antennas. If you can get them up high with good quality large gain antennas you'll be laughing.

       @dever @ralphw @eriner with this setup, unless you have 3-4 days of solid overcast, you will not run out of power.And if you do run out of power, as soon as the sun comes out the system automatically boots and is operational, not intervention needed.
