@SVcross It is pretty bad...we wait to see what comes next. Of course, the roots are much more complex than simply 'new president war against drug gangs'....the right-wing parties are deeply unpopular here and couldn't be elected outright, so in 2017 someone paid off the former 'lefty' vice-president to flip-flop after he was elected ever since, they allowed narco-traffickers to operate in Ecuador in order to blame all the resulting crime on Correa. Now they are trying to scale them back.

@SVcross "Right-wing" and "lefty" do not correlate well with US politics nor do they correlate with "conservative" and "liberal". Basically, the "right wing" down here are pure "neoliberal" which aligns them with establishment democrats and RINOs.

@SVcross The 'left wing' down here has some strains of economic socialism, but without the neo-marxist BS of DEI wokism.... more of a focus on public administration of public assets for the benefit of the public. The most degrees held by Ecuadorian politicians are not law, but literally "public administration".
