A beggar goes to a part of the city where it's illegal to beg. Though prepared to be driven out, the beggar is ignored by the guards. Why?Because an event has attracted cultivators, some of whom (ascetic cultivators) look even more like a beggar than the beggar himself. The guards can't tell the difference, and don't want to risk offending a martial artist.I love Chinese novels.

The other nice thing about Chinese novels is how the random isekai world has very mysterious connections to Chinese history. Actually, the Yellow Emperor is a figure here somehow. Actually, this random Chinese myth shows up here. This is seen to an extent when more western works have elves and dwarves, but there's never a random Americana lore connection, where the world was once conquered by Paul Bunyan, or where Villager B randomly tells you that Johnny Appleseed continued his work in his second life on another world.
