@momus archers, sling throwers, anything with more range, then swoop in with hoplites and wipe them out. And flanking, a lot of flanking.

@blueberry proper phalanx will have cavaly or light infantry on the flanks javalin/arrows would be good for thinning them out than id go close combat by using big shields like the romans did
