@Economic_Hitman They did some tests after noticing the French Angelfish had buoyancy issues. Here s/he is getting an ultrasound. They got a diagnosis, they didn't release what the doc was. He was put on medications and is back to swimming normally now

@graf Emergency vets can be really rough sometimes, I've heard people waiting 15hrs before. But they triage so only the sickest animals get seen first, so your stable animal that's puking will likely end up waiting to see the GP vet Monday.

@Tepid_Tapir only time I ever had to use emergency vet was for my siamese that had crystals so bad they wanted to cut off his junk and make him a woman so i had made the decision to have him euthanized as I would not want to live out my life as a twisted mockery of gods creation and i know he would feel the same

@graf Ok so you're talking about a Perineal Urethrostomy. It's not really making the cat a female, it has no aim to change the sex. It just shortens the penis so that the urethra is larger to pass stones, since it gets smaller as it gets closer to the tip of the penis. There is no vagina made.Idk when this happened, but I know it used to be a lot more complicated of a surgery back in the day. However it's done more more commonly now and post-op complications have been greatly mitigated.We don't perform sex changes on animals.

@graf The only simple surgery I have ever witnessed has been feline neuters. Like I said, we've only more recently become well versed in this type of surgery. Post op complications were common, among it being hemorrhage and chronic UTI. Not to mention intraoperative complications. And also, if your cat got stones that were very large, a slightly larger urethra wouldn't necessarily help, it might still be getting blocked. There is actually a step - by - step on how to do the procedure at dvm360 if you're interested. It does not go over the neuter which would need to be done if the animal wasn't neutered. It is very graphic as it shows pictures of the entire process.I just dislike the notion that we do sex changes in vet med.
