German industrial output declined in November, underscoring the persisting manufacturing woes.Production declined 0.7% from October, led by capital goods, and intermediate goods. That’s the sixth consecutive drop and defies economists in a Bloomberg survey, who’d predicted a 0.3% increase. Germany probably ended 2023 with its first recession since the pandemic, as analysts reckon data will reveal a second straight contraction in output in the fourth quarter. https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/german-industry-shrinks-for-sixth-month-as-recession-looms-1.2019493

@efialto I'm expecting this will be the trend for most of the European industry going forward. Some will move to US, but a lot of it will end up going to Asia, and to China in particular.

@yogthos@mas.to Thailand and Vietnam have been blowing up in recent years. Even China is moving a lot of manufacturing over there as their economy further develops out of raw labor markets. @efialto@mastodon.online
