@cultured_grug just wait until they hear about how quickly fossils can form.

@Jagahati — I’ve been circling the young earth rabbit hole. I’ve been so thoroughly indoctrinated with the evolutionary timeline that I have a hard time wrapping my head around it but am trying to keep an open mind and discern where the best evidence actually lies. 😅@cultured_grug

@MountainJay Here is how I came to my current conclusion:1.) I don’t know for sure. 2.) I don’t really have a good way to test it myself. 3.) Both models are internally consistent. 4.) God has never lied to me. 5.) Modern Science gets it wrong consistently. Therefore I am an ignorant (as in I literally don’t know for sure) young earther. @cultured_grug

@MountainJay I’m also of the opinion that the age of the earth is not a salvation issue, and God could absolutely have been using poetic or metaphorical language when describing the creation to Moses. I’m ok with not knowing for sure and trusting God with mysteries until they are revealed. @cultured_grug

@Jagahati — well said! God’s ways are beyond my feeble human comprehension. Speculating about the timeline is an extremely minor interest compared to learning to humbly experience the light of God the Creator. ☀️✨🌻@cultured_grug

@Jagahati @MountainJay @cultured_grug If I'm remembering correct, Guy Berthault did some interesting geological experiments on simultaneously forming geological strata which really blows a hole in a lot of the "common knowledge" on the age of the earth.

@Jagahati @MountainJay @cultured_grug - I haven't found a good young earth explanation for the star light problem. How can we see light from objects that are much father than 6000 light years away if everything is only 6000 years old.

@Draven Differing rates of expansion during the creation. We don’t know the speed at which things expanded in the first moments of the Big Bang. We can guess based on the speed things are currently moving but that hardly proves that it was always the same. Interestingly the old earth model currently has the same problem, as the JWST can see galaxies that are fully formed which are way too old / redshifted. @MountainJay @cultured_grug

@thisisthebreath @cultured_grug this tweet (or x-ing) was from this site. i didn't check the references the article quotes. question i always asked was an oil deposit is discovered to have x barrels of oil and pumps y barrels per day. so shouldn't the deposit be completely empty in x/y days?https://answersingenesis.org/geology/catastrophism/how-fast-can-oil-form/

@greyknight33 @cultured_grug the simple answer to your question (and ill speak from my long abandoned profession of mineral engineer) is what is the definition of a "resource"a "resource" is defined as something that can be *economically* extracted. so not only does new more efficient tech increase resources, more commonly, price of a commodity rises and deposits that were not considered resources are now resources. practically speaking we have a relatively limitless stash, but at what cost?

@thisisthebreath @cultured_grug absolutely. just figured if there was a certain number of barrels, eventually the deposit will run out. maybe those estimates were far less than expected... tho that wouldn't help one's IPO. in fact, the opposite would solicit more $btw, wasn't there some lady who discovered how to properly breakdown plastics back to an organic form... but her place as person of the year was usurped by the greta?
