@pony if S/PDIF uses 3.5mm jack it might be multifunctional and could be switched to analog audio mode.

@pony yeah but the spdif output on the laptop itself might be reassignable, i mean AC'97 chips had this function and I think so does Intel HDA.

@hj the spdif output is on the dac, not laptop

@pony IC. You could possibly enter the USB device properties and see if it has different mode or something.that's an audio interface/card, not DAC though. S/PDIF is digital already.

@hj it's a DAC, it's got main output in form of a 3.5mm jack for headphones, i use that time to time, but also keep speakers plugged in the line out (they have own amp ofc)

@pony :assburger: S/PDIF is digital tho, DAC means Digit-to-Analog Converter. For S/PDIF no conversion is needed, your device just acts as a soundcard or audio interface depending on age of your terminology

@hj hj pls, i know that, i use the device to plug into usb and output analog audio from its lineout and headphone jack, i don't care for the spdif on it, but now my corpo windows 10 only offer me that option

@pony @RafiX @hj Clearly solution is to buy a cheap SPDIF converter thingy so that you can enjoy the the output of a crappy jellybean DAC instead of your fancy high quality DAC.
