@didek it is obvious - you put it into random place in system and doesnt even care to use same place after upgrade.

@didek While data isolation is nice (easy backup, restoring, clearing), this 'feature' is not so nice, as not everybody could afford root.

@didek I have a crazy idea of modifying all desktop environments to be able to make them run all apps using a wrapper script (using global configuration option). Then, on top of that, we're able to implement some framework for controlling per-app access to filesystem, network, device files, etc.

@didek Though without package manager and runtimes. It should be compatible with anything.

@anedroid @arek Yup, I use it too. Mostly to backup singleplayer games. But the fact we need root for that is baffling.

@didek @arek AOSP or LineageOS also have thing called "Seedvault". It let you backup your encrypted app data to SD card or Nextcloud.

@anedroid @arek It never really worked reliably for me. Also it does not let you explore individual files like .config and .local directories on Linux.

@arek @anedroid You cannot access app data files without root, unless app developer specifically put everything under /storage/emulated/0/Android/data directory which is rare.
