The Israeli soldiers committing #genocide have the same vapid glee of the Manson killers. #cult

Same eyes in cult documentaries.I escaped #TheChildrenOfGod at 17. We were the same. Glazed, shallow eyes, too happy, too brainwashed to connect any dots. It's some kind of dissociation. I used to call it "eyes and teeth" in my mind. There is no humanity, if in attack mode, you repeat yourself and laugh.cont...

One is only safe once back inside the compound. Then you erase the memory. But thrive on the dissonance, how awful they were, how much they wanted to destroy you. Cults thrive on hate. It's why isolating you and separating you from family is the number one rule. Then you get love bombed by your "chosen community" Reinforcing the brainwashing.#cult #deathcult

@RustyBertrand (serious question) What puzzles me is that normally intelligent, often competent, successful adults (not just young, impressionable youth) get pulled into cults. I feel like I’m smart enough not to fall for TFG’s cult of personality. But so many (70 million!) others (many of whom are much more intelligent than me) do. Can you help explain this situation?

@Fred_Hymans They manufacture your experience with them. You think you're in a group of regular people, but you're actually the only outsider. You go along to get along.Studies: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6378867/Also, they use a love interest. My dad hooked my mom, my mom hooked my stepdad...Cont...

@Fred_Hymans They use your need, they use trends, love, comfort. They don't want idiots. Somewhere in the middle. They use crisis. Or they just breed. My cult would punish women who couldn't "bear fruit".This is the son of the leader, he explains some dilemmas. Ended in a murder/suicide #ChildrenOfGod https://youtu.be/usDZvsFSzJ0?si=f7WePwwpNLZ3Oztc

@Fred_Hymans People will clap, laugh, stand up, and do all kinds of silly stuff for approval.I did a talk on cults at the University of Reykjavik, told everyone to repeat a phrase after me. They did. During the talk about brainwashing. Some even came dressed in white. lolhttps://www.rebekahsebastian.com/diealogue-episodes/alex-akesson-escapee-survivor-children-of-god-cult

@RustyBertrand @Fred_Hymans Is there a known repeatable mental process that we can use to defend? For example, I liked Jordan Peterson for 5 minutes, I liked Ayn Rand for about 20 minutes, and I still like the 4 horsemen (hitch, dennet, dawkins, harris). But for any of the above, if I become uncomfortable with too many aspects of their philosophy, I'll start to pick and choose portions while rejecting others. What I'm looking for is a reverse "Jesus prayer".

@jay_chi The book "Life 102: What To Do When Your Guru Sues You" by Peter McWilliams is about going into, and out the other side of, groups that exploit. Might be a cult, a religion, a relationship, a business, a politics, a therapy, some of each. The group he wrote about sued, won, and all copies of the book were to be removed from circulation... but copies of the book are still out there. Full of compassion, recommended.@RustyBertrand @Fred_Hymans
