Remember in the 30s, the most popular Christian figure was Father Coughlin, who was only silenced by silencing his ability to use a radio, telephone or send or receive mail from his home (not kidding, they used executive powers to singularly muzzle him) Up to the 50s, the vast majority of Roman Catholics were openly oppositional to Israel with a sizeable portion of Protestant Churches espousing the same criticisms. We could walk into a mainstream church before 1960, and heard a screed against international jewry which would make the most edgy internet nazi of 2023 uncomfortable.
