@mischievoustomato @mary @lispi314 A would, maybe given that you don't magically have access to a whole lot of options, should… nah and that's my point, better options need to be sought, specially given the nasty outcomes you get.Say the person turned out to be innocent or legitimate, such as self-defending, or you ended up causing collateral damage (particularly for the thread context that are guns), or the various kind of social repercussions it tends to either cause or amplify.

I think some some criminals should be killed because prisons are majorly wasted space and only serve to turn criminals into worse criminals. People with a known criminal history should have a kind of limit that deems them too problematic to have alive, I think. And some crimes should also not be "paid" with prison but with some sort of debt system where the criminal is indebted to the victim and/or people dependant on the victim. It's a complex thing, @Arcana knows a bit more i think

And if you gun your protesters you're pretty much risking a civil war.Protests themselves being a pretty strong but rather direct reaction, usually right after a politician did some shit, it's not really something that brews within the population except if they're simply not being heard at all.

I'm referencing the criminalization of several environment protests in particular pertaining to oil pipelines.Also, my government's goons have been actively murdering the locals in various such areas and *nothing* happens.Protests and walks do effectively nothing besides catch attention and demonstrate solidarity (if there is enough people). I haven't seen a single highly idiotic decision by our government being meaningfully altered by them.They react relatively fast to civil disobedience like jury nullification and direct sabotage though, in contrast.

@lispi314 @mary Yeah, protest-walks are often called demonstrations for a reason, best thing you can do with them is catch attention and rally people (for example with a speech pointing to actions they can do and/or have a bunch of stands of the associated organisations put together).As for the environmental ones, they're typically direct action, and I'd say legitimate in general but not always protests and some of them seriously illegal right from the start. (Which yeah is why proper jurys are important)
