@igd_news The problem about blocking traffic is you are not winning supporters.The average random person who is stuck in traffic may support and agree with you, but now you have prevented them from attending their child's school play or someone's birthday party. You have stopped a senior citizen from receiving their medical treatment. People on the highway, are not your enemy, they may very well be your alley, yet you have negatively impacted their lifeProtest the state, not the people

@igd_news The conditions in Gaza are awful and inhuman. There is a great injustice and cruelty taking place in Gaza.The whole world knows this.But keeping a child from enjoying her birthday party or a senior from attending her doctor's appointment (who was not in an emergency vehicle, but still needed the treatment) or stopping the random from being by the side of a dying loved one, is not changing anything in Gaza.As I said, you should protest the state and not the innocent people.

@Linux_Is_Best @igd_news Inconvenience is the point. Many of those people will be asking why they were stuck in traffic because they still aren't aware of what's happening. Some of them will look it up and become supporters, some won't. I like to focus on the one who appreciates their inconvenience pales in comparison to what's happening in Palestine and will support the action taken.You'll never reach everyone, I focus on the ones I can, and they might be the person to reach someone I can't.

@SeattleSanchez @igd_news To enact change, you need sympathy and empathy from the masses.It becomes a numbers game. Will you gain more people to your cause or will more people feel unsympathetic because, in the name of your cause, you have become a nuisance?!Everyone already knows of the horror happening in Gaza. We have news media outlets who broadcast the awful, inhuman conditions 24/7. Even my small local, nightly news, brings up Gaza.Protest the state, not the people.

@Linux_Is_Best @igd_news So you ignored the whole point of my comment about how not everyone does know about Gaza cause some people don't watch news deliberately until it effects them. Shutting down a major corridor for commercial traffic is protesting the state. If we had better public transit not as many people would need to drive and be inconvenienced by the protest. That would also save pounds of carbon dioxide from being released and lessen our reliance on oil wars. Every action matters.

It seems to me like a really complicated situation, to be honest. I think that you can feel for both sides of the conflict and also blame both sides of the conflict. Hamas -- assuming that the reports of what they did were true -- committed unspeakable atrocities and expected... What? That they could just go "just kidding!" and go back to the way the things were a year ago? On the other hand, the way Israel is waging war reminds me an awful lot of the war in iraq, and the way that the US waged the war in Iraq it was disgusting to me -- the news was bragging about how the Americans had blown up some building because they thought Saddam Hussein was inside, and then it turns out he wasn't inside and all they did was kill a bunch of innocent people.Another thing that for the complicates things is the fact that we are looking at a clash between two quite different civilizations. Well certainly imperfect, Israel represents western civilization and at least to some degree hold those ideals. By contrast, Islamic civilization is extremely at odds with the ideals of Western Civilization. To give just one example, Western Civilization has largely abhorred slavery and even in the short time that it engaged in the African slave trade it knew that it was doing something against its values which was one reason why it eventually ended. By contrast, the Muslim world doesn't see a problem with slavery as long as it is of non-muslims. It is a historical fact that the Muslim world has been a primary consumer of slaves historically and there are open slave markets in the Muslim world today, such those which can be found online.So it's just an unspeakably complicated situation and it seems to me that going all in on picking a side is sort of absurd. For me, I'd like to give Good vibes to all the good people who are unjustly facing bad things, and I don't think that any group has a monopoly on that right now. And contrasting the good vibes to the good people facing injustice, there are multiple groups pushing the conflict, and groups that don't care about innocents that get hurt, and I certainly don't harbor any Goodwill towards them.It definitely seems to me though that there is enough good on each side and enough evil on each side that going all in on either just doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and I don't think that you can have parades and marches of people chanting "it's complicated"

Then those people send their anger to the elected officials. As I said, here they've managed to convince the people that protestors are the enemy, which is of course wrong.
