       I was in Kitui in 2019, and what the locals were fearing as threats to their livestocks and their lives is a puff adder, that snake is very venomous and dangerous, Dante who posted that his five goats succumbed to puff adder bites yesterday says the remaining three are showing symptoms of snake bites but they are improving.

       Here is puff adder, usually according to the account of the people living in areas with puff adders, they slaughter the animals with puff adder bites, it's harmless to human consumption since venomous is not poisonous, it's protein in nature, what is required is cook the meat properly. I don't know why this particular person decided to bury them.

       Puff adder causes more deaths here than any other snake, however, it's not the most venomous, the most venomous is black mamba,  black mamba usually avoid human conflict and strike when cornered.

       @JonathanMBR But as far as I know, the black mamba is also the fastest snake and also super aggressive. The thing with adders in general is that they camouflage with the ground and people step on them.

       @aurochs Very true, but if you spot them before, unless if you approach them unknowingly and see as threats, they will strike you, yes they are very fast. This particular puff adder that killed these livestocks was coming to this homestead in particular to feed. That camouflage nature is the reason their bites have the most fatality.

       @aurochs puff adder are known to invade also people's homesteads another reason why fatality is highest among snake bites here.
