@Djeep It's a Baofeng UV-5R just got it a few weeks ago. I'm not a ham and haven't messed around with shortwave in 40 years. I had a bunch of my father's army gear as a kid. I'm making spaghetti sauce now and living the dream.

@eriner Protip: Don't photograph your keys, it's exceedingly easy to copy keys with some photo information. My EDC is effectively:- Keys- RFID blocking wallet- Phone- Kobalt folding box cutter- Folding knife (yes, I carry both)Not always daily (oft when carrying a pack):- iPod touch and wired earbuds- Indestructible Embassy pen from Countycomm- At least one ocarina- Glasses cleaner/cloth- 20+ft paracord with a loop tied at one end- Maybe eventually lockpicks/lock for practice

@mwklein @eriner I usually keep at least one fixed blade in the car along with a tomahawk. For carrying on your person, folding knives have a lot more leeway in CA for concealed carry than fixed blades (and counts as open carry when the pocket clip is visible. I can even legally carry my Cold Steel Espada XL (7.5" blade) most places because it folds.

@eriner my commute is down 3 flights of stairs from my bedroom to my office and its all transitional spaces and dead-end alleys, the riskiest leg is through what I call "Hell's Kitchen" there is a miscreant gang of three young repeat offenders, run by a ruthless she-don handing out contracts to lower level thugs who need a driver, no questions asked, increasingly I'm able to get away, but they steal my car and shake me down for "insurance" money. Used up today's cigar already.

@skypage @eriner ah, I did not know you were in CA. I stopped in NM on the way to AZ and got a California special. 1.99 inch front open switchblade. Not for carry there but I did not have front open. I had a side open from my time deployed in the Army but wanted the FO. Funny. I didn’t carry it in my front pocket as I was worried about an accidental trigger. Then I found out it has a safety feature that will prevent major injury.
