@Moon i feel like media in the 1990s had a lot of diverse casts and people kinda just didn't care and it was fine.like janeway doesn't spend all of voyager cawing about the patriarchy, jim west doesn't spend the entirety of wild west whining about the hood and white power, they just likeit's like if people just got on with things and it was fine.

@icedquinn I have to some extent been enjoying seeing things like star wars ruined. it was being ruined before the political stuff but along with comics you can't even exaggerate anymore how bad they've gotten. movies like han solo and batman and flash getting almost completely redone because they hired incompetent people, that used to never happen but it's happening with regularity now

@Moon @icedquinn I've noticed. But then I am a writer/storyteller so it is my bread and butter pudding. And it also means a lot more to me because I have my own projects that I know they would destroy if they got a hold of it since I don't have the right politics and nor will my story although I'm interested to hear what people will say are my viewpoints from it. I'm not looking forward to the part they destroy my IP and I don't know how I will handle it yet.

@Moon @icedquinn I would use the term identity politics for this as that is what this is about. It has become about your identity group. I think there is another good word that has been used to describe what they do but it escapes me now. Bricky came up with: "2023 definition: 'Woke' is the intersectionality of race, sex and class; actively seeking to dismantle such structures by viewing them through a critical lens."Intersectionality and critical theory (Like critical race theory) are both good words that they have used to describe what they do from an academic standpoint. It has been applied to the creative arts and culture now.

@guizzy @Moon i just describe it as when people are trying to act progressive while making no genuine improvements.they go around and piss everyone off like they were civil rights activists. but at the end of the day nobody actually got any civil rights out of it. no black children have less traumatic household lives because we renamed master to main.
