So here's a fun question. When you cut material with a saw blade, or a laser, the width of that cut is called "kerf" - the distance between two canyon walls formed by the cutting, and if you were precisely machining a part, you'd want to compensate by cutting a tiny distance away from the actual cut line.This is a subtractive manufacturing term, though - what about additive MFG, eg. #3DPrinting, which goes the other way? Is elephant's foot "kerf", or something else? #frek? @3dprinting #maker

@Cryochasm I thought about swarf, but that's already very specifically chips or filings made by a subtractive process.
