       One of the reasons why the intent to reclaim "based" from right wingers fails is because it's more complicated than just "let's call left wing and progressive things based instead", you need to address the underlying concept. "Based" is a praise of acts that are shocking and insulting to someone, and while the acts themselves can be good or bad, valuing offensiveness for the sake of offensiveness is a right wing value.
