@umad80 @TearGasBreakfast I don't get the whole vinyl sound is better thing. But I'm the jackass with a high tech streamer. We do have a turntable. My husband wanted to continue to play his vinyl.

@Joycevor @TearGasBreakfast To me, especially if you have the right equipment (a $40 turntable is not going to get you that sound) they sound like you’re at a concert. MP3s and CDs… not so much. Again, right equipment, sure, it’s going to be good sound, but most people are just listening through their phones and earbuds.I love listening to my music through my phone, but I love having vintage equipment to hear the great sound of vinyl.

@umad80 @TearGasBreakfast So - excellent point about concert sound. Since I have a great streamer running through my receiver and both have digital audio converters (DACs), and then I am able to run them at master's quality audio (step above CD), it is like hearing the concert in the room. I listen through a set of speakers in my living room which has great acoustics. During the pandemic when Apple upgraded sound I bought a portable DAC and good earphones. Was very clear listening on my phone.

@umad80 @Joycevor @TearGasBreakfast The development of the 33 1/3 record album was done in the 1950s and is an amazing bit of engineering and materials science. It was developed by CBS. The TV network had an engineering arm back in the day.

@Joycevor @TearGasBreakfast Yep. Sometimes it’s just the equipment that really makes it great. We have vintage ‘70s pioneer receivers, speakers, etc. My dad has tubes and a diamond needle. So the LP sounds out of this world. Even me, without those two things, my vinyl sounds amazing.A friend of his did get him these two Elvis LPs for Christmas that were recorded in such a way that it sounds like you’re in a night club with him. I don’t know if the CDS are that way though. Or if they make ‘em

@scottgfx @Joycevor @TearGasBreakfast Interesting, I had no idea! I know now the albums are 180-gram so they’re more durable then they were.I love both the vintage albums and the re-releases too. I know there are people who hate the remastered ones, but I think that’s more nostalgia than anything else.
