@blingring @radicalramblings Childbirth is absolutely dangerous and damaging for women though no matter how normal or expected or even wanted childbirth is for any given individual. Plenty of women die during the process and that is just exhibit A. And yes, adding humans to the earth as humanity currently operates on the earth is bad for the earth. There's no way around it barring massive societal overhaul which is not going to happen for reasons out of direct control of 99.999999999999999999999999999% of individuals.

@radicalramblings Great conclusion. Also despite everyone's whining that my tone is bad and that I'm mean, the posters here prove time and again than being calm and collected does not prevent retarded comments like you got from happening.

@GalacticTurtle @radicalramblings Childbirth in your country, and mine, has not been "dangerous" for some time. 'Adding humans to the earth..." WOW. Fuck it. Let's sterilise humans and ask China for advice on controlling a societal overhaul.

@blingring @radicalramblings Um... it's absolutely still dangerous. Mortality rates surrounding childbirth is still a very active issue and part of modern day discussion. That's not to say that there haven't been massive improvements in the past 2000 years, but there's a reason the whole pregnancy process requires constant monitoring and there's a reason why removing abortion as an option is equated with, "well, I guess we're gonna have a lot of dead women very soon." Go to any pregnancy forum on the internet and I am positive you will be met with all the gory details even of women who don't have a near death experience. And yes, the way humanity operates is destroying the earth even if it's a bummer to think about. It's simply how it is.

@blingring @radicalramblings I mean you're free to disagree, obviously. You've made your stance clear. And I do agree with you that compared to other regions, your odds are much better in the US/UK. But that does not negate the inherent minefield that is birthing a child. And of course that's just the surface of the entire conversation. I only brought it up first because "possibility of death" is both the most obvious and the most severe. In my current extended family alone there have been two deaths related to childbirth, both after the child was actually born.

@blingring @radicalramblings Note: This map shows infant mortality rates.I haven't read through the full article but this is one of the first things that popped up when I searched for motherhood mortality issues if it is of interest to you. Then of course there's the whole "Post-Roe America" situation that continues to unfold. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-maternal-mortality-rates-are-getting-worse-across-the-u-s/

@blingring @GalacticTurtle @radicalramblings That says infant mortality rates, although it lines up with the areas with the highest maternal death rates.

@GalacticTurtle @blingring and the number one cause of death of pregnant women is murder.

@radicalramblings @blingring Yup, that's why in another response I specified that this first point I brought up is just #1 on a long list because it tends to be the most obvious even for women who have had zero interaction with feminism.

@LostInCalifornia @blingring @radicalramblings Childbirth rates are trending downward in most regions (coming in at or below replacement rate) which is why many nations are already calling it a national emergency. In reality, what is happening in many areas is that women have had realistic avenues to say no to childbirth over the past few decades and you'll begin to see the backlash of that in many areas of society. It encompasses many topics including trans, porn, trafficking, surrogacy and the entire fertility industry, trad becoming trendy, changes in abortion/birth control laws, access to education, employment... the whole deal. Because at the end of the day, women are an economic resource to be exploited for a male system of continuous growth and anything that acts counter to that is an immediate threat to male rule and way of life. Honestly, I think this topic should be the biggest thing on the radar in feminist circles right now.

@GalacticTurtle @LostInCalifornia @blingring @radicalramblings it's true and rights will be taken from women. Roe already in the US. They're trying to take away the abortion pill and no fault divorce now.

@TheWitchBitch @GalacticTurtle @blingring @radicalramblings The US is an oddball in the western hemisphere tho. Most (not all) of the other countries are moving to legalize women's choices.I'd said this before and I'll say it again, economists should have been working on a way to pay old people's pensions without relying on births as if it were a Ponzi scheme.

@LostInCalifornia @TheWitchBitch @GalacticTurtle @blingring @radicalramblings Exactly. Pension systems designed in that way would collapse in recent decades.

@LostInCalifornia @TheWitchBitch @blingring @radicalramblings That is true. However, I do think the long-term trends in this area will all end up going the same way whether that is legally enforced or culturally coerced. That's more of a tinfoil hat feeling rather than any kind of... analytical conclusion though. The fact that similar overall trends are forming in the US, Russia, and China I also think is fairly significant since it does seem like we're gearing up for yet another era of invading each other either directly or by proxy. But... we'll see! Alas, my paranoia is here to stay. XD

@blingring why is critique of rearing children seen as "you hate mothers"? i don't. Emotionally reacting in such a way makes me really not care to engage.

@GalacticTurtle @TheWitchBitch @blingring @radicalramblings Trends forming in the US, Russia and China all point to oligarchs wanting to take power. You're not paranoid if it's true.
