       @vanilla My example goes back a bit further than yours, but I still marvel from time to time how easy it is now to host videos.In the olden days you had to futz with dedicated streaming servers and RTMP and whatnot if you wanted to show people a video clip that was too big to be a GIF, not to mention the codec mess. No wonder YouTube had little in the way of upstart competition.These days I can simply Put The Video On The Webpage like any other file. It's downright blissful.@matthiasott

       @julian @matthiasott Very true! Self-hosting videos is easier than ever, and paid CDNs like Bunny also make it very straightforward to build your "own" streaming service. Businesses really don't need to post any of their content on YouTube anymore (other than for the marketing reach).
