Islamic finance offers an alternative to traditional banking. It is based on the principles of profit and loss sharing, where investors and entrepreneurs share the risks and rewards of a business venture. This encourages investment in businesses that benefit society as a whole, rather than just a few individuals. Islamic finance also prohibits investments in businesses that are considered harmful to society, such as those involved in alcohol, tobacco, and gambling 1.

@electronwarier One of the things I want to do this month is dive deeper into early Christian / Church Fathers writings about usury.

@TexPipe Please let me know what you find. I have been studying the history of usury, starting in Sumer, 4000 years ago, and it's progress, it's contamination of the West.

@electronwarier I'll probably start soon using Verbum for my search and go from there. I have a big library there ... >2k+ books. When I first moved to NH, I shortly thereafter took a course at my local parish and there was a big theme of "the borrower is the slave to the lender". It stuck with me, even as our only major loan at the time was the mortgage.I've been happily loan-free for about a decade. Very free'ing.

@TexPipe This book will likely trigger you, but it is an interesting overview of the evolution of interest, based on early cuneiform text. I have been fact checking this book for several months. How The Jews Betrayed Mankind - Volume 1 The Sumerian Swindle by Gregory DelaneyHow The Jews Betrayed Mankind - Volume 2 The Monsters of Babylong by Gregory DelaneyI highly recommend both books as a starting point.

@electronwarier Nope, it wouldn't trigger me In The Slightest. ((Some people who cant be named)) ... I sometimes call them The Banking Class because it causes less of a knee jerk reaction.

@electronwarier even the Catechism of the Council of Trent is pretty harsh. See below. The Aquinas "Summa" goes into more detail.I'm interested in how attitudes softened on it over the centuries.
