Had a conversation with my father, he doesn't think he needs me to move up north to help care for my step mother. Lots of stress off my shoulders but I'm kinda bummed. I need a change.

@Alphakilopapa AKP, of you feel called to move closer to family, you might want to explore that. Even if its a tiny, tiny voice in your head. I'm so glad we came home before the lockdowns, before our little one, and now that costs are soaring for everything. Not everyone feels that way, but it is time you can't get back. And its a delight for me to harass my dad a bit and then disappear to my own house ;) All to reappear and do it again a few days later

@MountainJay Hasn't closed, I can move up there whenever I want. Honestly I'm not really sure what to do with my life now. I can do whatever I want, my home is paid off and I dont date. But I kinda don't want to do anything and that makes me feel like a piece of shit. Moving up N was gonna give me more to focus on, a job to do. I fear if I stay here much longer I'm gonna waste away. I have 0 motivation, lost as much weight as my body can, my house is a shitshow. But I have no reason to change.

@Alphakilopapa — ah, finding meaning and purpose in life! As the intense parenting phase of my life winds down, and an empty nest is in the near future, I can perhaps relate. I find myself turning my focus more on developing wholesome food options for ourselves and neighbors, figuring out which interests and skills I want to further develop, and seriously exploring religious belief for the first time. ☦️Rather than “change”, is there anything you’d like to deepen or learn anew? 🤔

@Alphakilopapa — any guesses why?For me that means I’m in low-grade depression from stuffing and not dealing with difficult emotions or past traumas. When I don’t let myself feel the lows, I have a hard time feeling anything at all, including enjoyment.The work you do with rescue dogs is very admirable! It would be hard on me though, letting them go after getting attached, even knowing the happy ending.It might not be that for you at all, but maybe your emotions are stifled somewhere else.

@Alphakilopapa — another category that can cause me emotional dullness is overindulging in distraction activities. Doom-scrolling and unhealthy foods are my worst lately. For someone close it was how gaming and porn rewired pleasure centers.I spent my 20s depressed and have to be careful to not veer that direction. So it’s useful for me to talk about and remind myself what not to do. 😅I don’t mean to be a pest though, so just tell me to buzz off if that’s the case! 😆Sending lots of love! 💗

@MountainJay I honestly don't know. Maybe it's that I have seen whats coming for a very long time. Like watching a car crash in slo-mo. I have no faith in the future. I personally see my work at the rescue as selfish. I get to have a dog but I don't have to pay for it and don't have to put them down when they get too old. It's the least I could do for the world. Maybe I'm just bored. My home is paid off, I don't date and I've never been the type to want for things. I have no end goal. It sucks.

@Alphakilopapa @MountainJay My unsolicited advice. Look for a church. Check out different ones in your area, find one that fits you (music, pastor, teachings etc…). Then fully embrace it, give God one year and see what life is like then. That’s kind of what I did and it has helped me more than I could ever express.
