I just got an iPhone alert from the YouTube app for a video it thought I might want to watch.In other news, it seems YouTube is A/B testing ways to get users to turn off notifications.

@nahga Same. I allow them by default, and turn off everything that abuses the trust. I don’t want to be told about anything I don’t actively want to know.

@tek I’m planning to leave youtube this year by having some scripts download the videos from channels I subscribe to and put them in my jellyfin instance, bye ads and stupid video suggestions

@4bz Maybe, possibly. Alternatively, I only have it for the small number of videos that won't play on Safari. I just turned the app's notifications off altogether so it can stay hidden away until I want to open it.
