If you need more reasons not to trust #Threads or anything that comes out of Meta, Facebook app's browser now(?) injects keylogging Javascript onto the websites you are visiting.https://gizmodo.com/meet-link-history-facebook-s-new-way-to-track-the-we-1851134018

@madcap What the actual heck? I knew, they are evil, but this is a new level. I did not get that when it was discovered, did not get that for TikTok either. I suspected evil stuff, but this is blatantly outrageous. Thanks for sharing. I'll spread the word further...

@jesterchen @madcap What do you think link shorteners are for? I more than half expected gizmodo or the guardian to add their own there. Look if you use a web browser it's bad, if you use an app (ANY APP) then it is an order of magnitude worse. But if you are their user using their product, they can do anything!

@jesterchen link shorteners can track you but I fail to understand how they can do any key logging.

@madcap It's revolting, but not unexpected from them. Besides not using their services, avoiding their (and others') mobile apps in favour of browsers can offer some hope for control.Similarly, the multi-account containers plugin for Firefox is great, because you can use separate sandboxes for different purposes.

@madcap https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdoffman/2024/01/06/serious-new-facebook-warning-for-apple-iphone-and-google-android-users/ puts it this way:"Facebook renders all third party links and ads within their app using a custom in-app browser... with the host app being able to track every single interaction with external websites, from all form inputs like passwords and addresses, to every tap.”
