"Have more kale". 🤣I want to do more research into some of the claims here, such as anti-nutrients. But, this was very interesting and a lot of it makes sense from a biological/physiological standpoint. I am seriously considering changing to a "ketovore" way of eating that emphasizes meat and animal products with some fruit and a bit of vegetables. No processed anything. Will see how this goes. Not happy with the clickbaity title but some stuff here to think abouthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjUH-7dHMvQ

@lradcliff I've been Beef/Butter/Bacon/Eggs carnivore for 6 months now.If you want to get some more background information, start watching videos on Dr Ken Berry's channel. Also, sample a few of the videos on the Low Carb Down Under conference channel.https://www.youtube.com/@lowcarbdownunder/videosor this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@lowcarbconferencesThis video is pretty good:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1cqNDDG4aA

@lradcliff the anti nutrient stuff i've come across is bs peddled by supplement sellers. keto might be healthy if you gamed it right and only ate high quality pasture raised stuff with fats packed with antioxidants and omega 3s, but in general it seems bad for arterial health

@lradcliff I didn’t watch this so potential useless comment incoming: my sense is we are encouraged to eat vegetables, especially leafy greens, in large quantities because they are low in calories, so are basically seen as harmless filler for those who want to lose weight. I eat vegetables when they are fresh in my garden, when I crave them, when they are good in a recipe, but I no longer force a green vegetable with every meal “for health.”

@cake @lradcliffI don't know nothing about health or diets but I know a lady that is pretty convinced that all these "veggies" are bad for you.

@IceCubeSoup @lradcliff The Steak and Butter Gal is good too, she’s friend with Dr. Ken Berry. I eat mostly meat, eggs and cheese. If I get the munchies a head of lettuce with a few tomatoes. The main thing is you can eat a big steak by itself without feeling guilty.

@cake Not at all useless, basically what they are advocating for in that video. Vegetables in moderation are fine, but this idea that we should eat tons of them all the time is BS. I am starting to think that if we pay attention our bodies tell us what we need to eat, this works if we are not addicted to junk food and sweets obviously.

@tot3mcarv3r Just about every single westerner is low on omega 3 and should be taking it as a supplement. Eating fish is definitely recommended for keto as well as pasture raised.

@lradcliff I think eating disorders, addictions, emotional eating, and fad diets all interfere with our abilities to listen to our bodies and have normal healthy hunger and fullness cues. And yeah the amount of vegetables pushed for health just seems extreme to me.

@tot3mcarv3r From what I can see from lots of research, fiber is not necessary when eating mostly meat, fish, fat, and fruit as these are all very easily digested and the nutrients are readily absorbed. This means that the waste does not need any further help passing through the intestines. Humans do not get much benefit from dietary fiber except for helping pass waste.

@lradcliff you want free radicals? because that's how you get free radicalsbut seriously, fiber is one of your largest dietary sources of antioxidants, and most factory farmed animal products are loaded with fat either already oxidized or minutes away from it. get enough oxidized ldl and you'll be in trouble, no matter how fit you seem.

@tot3mcarv3r There are many foods that contain high levels of antioxidants, not just vegetables.

@lradcliff enough to combat oxidative stress? yes there are a lot of dietary sources of antioxidants, but removing what might be the greatest source of it warrants thinking about a replacement.
