@MIKEROTCH I've thought of setting up a pi with thermocouple sensor to email me if my freezer raises in temp....

@Tankenator1 So an IoT connected freezer, that'll cost me less than this has/will!Actually used to keep a freezer spreadsheet on the contents/cost/date/etc .

@MIKEROTCH would be in the region of 80 bux,65ish for the pi and enclosure and power, 15 for the thermocouple. There have been python scripts for beer brewing fridges with power control published in Linux journal dating back 15 or so years ago(pre pi), but I'm betting logic could be adapted. I would also consider a power sensor so it could monitor power, just ensure the pi is powered through a power bank or battery to allow it to work when pixies ain't flowing..

@Tankenator1 I have a couple of Pi devices laying around, looking into, maybe even a Zero/W would be adequate to spit the data to a desktop old AMD server-ish system upstairs

@MIKEROTCH I'd keep it onboard the pi unless the data is important to you....I'd be most worried over loss of power and absolute temp thresholds, which I'd handle with emai warnings, perhaps sms...
