@simon I stronly dislike Duolingo’s streak. It’s more about you using the app than you progressing. It made me anxious to break the streak at moments where I needed to do something else. Duolingo is a great app, I wish I could remove all motivational parameters. But I can’t of course, because the editor wants me to use the app. Recently I broke my 500 days and more streak, and I feel a lot better. I may quit using Duolingo only because of all motivational functionalities that distresses me.

@nlegrand were you a paying user?I get a bunch of "streak feeezes" which mean I don't lose my streak if I skip a day by mistake, but I'm not sure if that's because I pay for an account or not

@simon i’m a paying user and I also used streak freeze. But I needed a full one week break :). I wish I could not use streak and leagues and the likes. It’s the same with Brilliant. Great apps, but I’d like the motivational parts to be optional :)

@simon @mattround I worked on a YouTube Creators event in Berlin a few years ago and clearly remember recognising a tiny, very shy Irish girl (Janet Devlin) and a very intense and friendly English man who wanted to know all the technical details of the stuff I was working on. I very much enjoyed this streak of videos and you're right: it was excellent way of signing off.

@Rhodium103 it was our party!Honestly, having Tom ask me for a Zeppelin story to film wasn't a huge surprise, felt like an extension of a Barcamp (I think we first met at one of those)
